A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by Treatwell (formerly Wahanda) and asked if I wanted to use a voucher in return for a post and of course I said yes immediately. I recently got tape-in extensions and drying my hair has become a mammoth chore that I absolutely detest doing. The only solution was to book myself in for a blow-dry.
The way Treatwell works is that it is a platform for all your beauty therapy needs. Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming to find somewhere reliable (or last minute) for your nails, brows, hair or even a massage. Treatwell takes the hard work out of booking by providing you with what’s hot in your local area. I chose Allertons, in Leeds City Centre because firstly, it looked really nice inside and also because it had a whole load of fantastic reviews, making it one of the top recommended places near to me.
Another thing that drew me in was the products they use – Alterna and Living Proof as well as there being a shop like feel with the Paul & Joe makeup range as well as Caudalie and NEOM.
Allertons is in the heart of The Light in Leeds City Centre which is primarily restaurants and a cinema which is why it stands out as it’s situated close to parking facilities and quite cleverly, away from any other salons. I booked my appointment the night before via Treatwell which was super easy to do and there are often discounts for last minute bookings which is definitely something to look out for.
Upon arrival, I immediately loved the layout and vibe of the salon, everything looked sleek and high quality and I was greeted warmly and introduced to my stylist, James who I instantly liked. He was absolutely lovely and he had a great knowledge of the products and I could tell he was passionate about hair. I had actually lost my voice that day which made for a hilarious experience and despite me not really being able to chat, we got on really well and I trusted him with my hair. That sounds like a random thing to say considering I was only getting a blow-dry but I’ve always been nervous in salons and at Allertons, I was completely at ease.
James used Alterna’s Caviar range on my hair which I was excited about as I’ve heard great things but never tried. Firstly, he used the Caviar RepairX Instant Recovery Shampoo, doing 3 gentle washes so not to loosen my extensions and finished with the conditioner from the same range.
For styling, I wanted volume and soft waves as I had been wearing my hair straight for a few weeks and fancied the change. Plus, I decided if I was gonna get a blow-dry then I’d want to leave looking like a VS Angel. To add volume, James used the Caviar Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist and to add nourishment to my ends and generally smooth everything, the Caviar Omega+ Nourishing Oil. I loved how these products felt in my hair and I can definitely see myself venturing into buying the range myself. I’m a Bumble and bumble girl at heart but I may well have to stray.
James rough dried my hair and then proceeded to dry it with a little volume and finished by using straighteners to add a curl to the ends. I am absolutely diabolical at curling with a straightener, I just cannot get it right and I am in awe when I see people doing it so effortlessly.
What was great was that my extensions dried really well – I’ve had them in for around 6 weeks and I’m definitely due a rotation but they’ve been rather fantastic so far and James commented on how lovely they were to dry and how the colour looked really natural and well blended.
I was so pleased with my blow-dry, it was everything I wanted and I managed to get almost 5 days out of it but it would have gone further had I not had a super sweaty Kettlebell workout.
Before I went, I received a cute goodie bag with some Caudalie bits which was a really nice touch and I even got a sneak peek of the new treatment rooms which are currently being renovated downstairs.
I will definitely be booking in at Allertons soon for another blow-dry as it was such a lovely experience which left me with super fabulous hair.
Have you used Treatwell?
Love, Kate xo
