In my second edition of ‘Foundation Friday‘ I have a long term love – Too Faced Born This Way (£29)* which is a dressing table favourite that I reach for regularly. I have the shade ‘Nude‘ which is a light with neutral to pink undertones and is one of 18 shades. There are actually 5 lighter shades in the range along with some really deep shades too. I think it’s really important for brands to cater to more than just 5 or 6 skin tones in a foundation because so many people end up missing out on a really great foundation because they can’t colour match.
This is a wonderful foundation as it truly is – that ol’ cliché – great skin in a bottle. I take 1.5 pumps onto the back of my hand before applying with my trusty Beauty Blender for a flawless, smooth base that is easily built up to pretty full coverage. I love when foundations are buildable, it means you can use them both day / night and I’ll certainly be taking it away with me next week.
The finish is natural – not too matte nor too dewy but somewhere in the middle and it never looks heavy or caked on. It is just a great skin provider and I find it incredibly long-wearing plus it works well with a variety of primers. What’s great is that it is oil-free which as a girl with an oily t-zone, I really appreciate. There is also Coconut Water for hydration, meaning it never feels uncomfortable or drying on the skin and Hyaluronic Acid helps it provide a smooth finish which I love because it smoothes over pores and doesn’t cling in any drier patches.
For me, this foundation ticks all the boxes and it’s easy to see why I gravitate towards it – these photos were taken with a good 8 hours wear and it still looked fresh. I love wearing this for nights out (not that I go out much) and really take my time in blending it in and building the coverage.
This foundation is available at Debenhams and is currently 10% off at £26.10 rather than £29 which I think is a great price for a fantastic, holy grail foundation.
Have you tried this foundation?
Love, Kate xo
