Thank you

Sentimental post alert!

Can you believe that 2013 is pretty much done and dusted? It’s hard to get my head around how quickly the year has gone and how much change has happened.
I started the year with buying my first DLSR – Canon 600D and it’s proven a good decision as I’ve found the quality of my blog and YouTube content has improved tremendously. I was lucky enough to be lent the money by my Grandma who has been a terrific support with all things blog related. She even knows what Twitter is! That never fails to make me chuckle. After a 3 month break, I hopped back onto the YouTube wagon and haven’t looked back. I really enjoy filming most weeks and even find pleasure in editing and seeing the videos come together.  I approached 100 subscribers in January and the ball began rolling and I’m now nearing 800 as the year ends. I hope to hit the 1k mark early in 2014 and for my channel to continue to grow.
After finally putting my heart into Twitter around March, I’ve really felt apart of the beauty bloggers community. It’s such a lovely thing to be part of the #bbloggers chats and I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with so many lovely, fabulous fellow bloggers. I attended my first meet up in August and I’ve been to another 2 events since. Despite being extremely outgoing, I do get really nervous meeting new people at first. However, once I’ve broken the ice there’s no shutting me up! I hope to attend more events/meet ups in 2014 as it’s been lovely putting names to faces. I’ve discovered so many fantastic blogs and YouTube channels this year and hope that continues.
By June my blog hit the 100 follower mark and I felt such a sense of achievement and couldn’t believe that 1 person read my blog but 100 was just crazy to me.  Then to top the year off, I hit 900! That totally blew my mind and I can’t quite put into words what that means to me. Honestly, it’s the best way to end the year and I hope I can continue to have this success as my blog grows older.
From a personal perspective, I’ve learnt a lot about myself this year and I feel I’ve grown a fair bit too. I wouldn’t say I’ve matured much though. One thing became increasingly apparent and that’s my ever expanding waistline. Sadly, the back end of the year has left me at square one with my weight-loss having put a lot of weight back on. I’ve always been a confident person but I’ve always struggled to accept my body and this has left me extremely self conscious. It’s a bit of an issue for me, however it’s only in the past few years that I’ve let it affect me and it does weigh heavily on my mind each day. So in January I’m going to dust off my trainers and whack on my sports bra to try again. I’ve lost a significant amount of weight before and I know I can do so again. I have to.
Despite my body issues and lack of gym time post Summer, I did overcome the biggest hurdle I’ve ever faced when I completed my first 10k run. Easily the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my entire life – I was completely out of shape and it was the hottest day of the year but I crossed the finish line within my target and was inconsolably sobbing as I finished. A snotty, sweaty face was not my best look of 2013.
What 2013 has taught me is that I’m stronger than I think and if I put my mind and body into something, I can achieve anything. It sounds cheesy but it’s true. I couldn’t have done half of what I have – whether it’s blog related or just overcoming one of life’s many obstacles – without the support of my friends and family.
I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who’s supported me this year, I couldn’t be more grateful and I hope to make you just as proud in 2014.
My year-end favourites posts/videos will be coming over the next week so keep an eye out of those.
Love, Katie xo
