A Skincare Round-Up

skincare

I feel like I’ve been trying skincare product after skincare product recently so I decided to bundle 5 products into one round-up post. At the moment, my skin is quite dehydrated and can also be a little congested so I’ve been needing a little resurfacing and a spot of hydration.

I chop and change cleansers on an almost daily basis depending on my skin concern and recently, I’ve been getting a lot of use out of the Antipodes Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser* (£24.99) which is the first product from the brand that I’ve had the pleasure of trying. Antipodes is a New Zealand founded, naturally focused skincare brand that uses only organically sourced ingredients. This cleanser is designed for normal to oily skin and is infused with Kiwifruit and Manuka Honey with a distinctive Green Apple and Cardamon fragrance. I use this both morning and night to balance out my skin and reduce blemishes whilst giving me a brightened complexion. I don’t particularly enjoy the scent but it lathers well and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.

Mask wise, the new Sanctuary Spa Beauty Sleep Face Mask* (£12) has become a bed-side favourite over the past month or so. I don’t particularly like going to bed with thick layers of product but it is safe to say I’m pretty lazy when it comes to my night time routine. This mask is the perfect happy medium – it sinks in almost instantly and feels like you have nothing on. It has an intense boost of hydration and anti-ageing properties that work whilst you sleep. I find this gives my skin a complete reset, especially when I’ve been stressed and not eating properly as it leaves my skin feeling plump, soft and smoothed out.

I’m pretty bad for regularly exfoliating, often hoping my flannels will buff away dead skin. I have had this Claudia Louch Mint Exfoliating Facial Polish* (£59) in my stash for some time and it’s only in recent times that I’ve found myself reaching for it quite regularly.  Whilst it is up there in price, I really like it for an abrasive exfoliation without drying out my skin or being too rough. The mint and apricot oils give it a fresh but nourishing feel and it’s infused with too many fantastic plant extracts to name. I particularly enjoy using this as a Sunday night pamper, y’know when your skin has taken a hammering and needs to be revived.

As I said, my skin has been in dire need of hydration as of late. I’m not sure if it is the change in seasons that has caused it but I’m often left wondering why my face looks dull and feels like a dry sponge, especially when I’m constantly drinking water. Two products have been giving me a boost and have become staples in my morning routine. The first is the Peter Thomas Roth viz-1000 Hydrating Serum* (£43.50) which I have been using post-cleanse daily as it not only boosts my skins hydration but it feels incredibly cooling on the skin. In the warmer months, that’s something which is welcomed. This is a super concentrated Hyaluronic Acid based serum which keeps the skin hydrated day/night with an invisible veil of moisture. Hydration is very important for your skin, no matter your skin type as it plumps, brightens and smoothes meaning that maintaining moisture levels in the skin targets a wide range of skin concerns in one fell swoop.

Finally, for my eyes I’m completely smitten with the Embryolisse Radiant Eye Cream* (£20.50) because it works incredibly well at cooling, de-puffing and generally hydrating my under eyes. I love this little roll-up as it is so refreshing on my under eyes and it tends to hide many a late night. It contains Vitamin E for protection against UV, pollen and the environment plus it sinks into the skin beautifully.

Also – I have kindly been given a discount code from Beauty Expert who stock Peter Thomas Roth which is valid until 24th May. Use the code : BE15 for 15% off your order at the checkout.
