Another awards season has ended and it’ll be that time again before you know it. I think this year has brought some amazing talent to the forefront of the movie industry and there have been some truly wonderful performances all round.
Fashion wise, the usual suspects have kept on impressing and new blood have become fashion darlings. So, without further ado – and in no particular order – I bring you my best dressed list from the 88th Annual Academy Awards!
Clearly training for XMen Apocalypse has paid off for Olivia because this stunning orange Stella McCartney dress looks sensational! I love that there wasn’t much orange on the carpet, allowing this beautiful one shouldered dress to really stand out. Olivia’s hair was softly pulled back and her matching orange lips brought the look together wonderfully.
I must say, someone’s looking a little bit sexy these days. Not that Regina George doesn’t look stunning but there’s a certain swagger and edgy vibe to Rachel recently and I love it. What I also love is this forest green slip style dress with a beautifully daring low back, a bit of side boob and a huge slit in the leg. Sounds incredibly OTT on paper but Rachel looked absolutely breathtaking in this August Getty dress. Her make up was perfection too.
The Quantico star definitely turned heads in this almost bridal inspired strapless white gown. I adore Zuhair Murad dresses – they’re so elegant, sexy and striking. Pritanka had her hair pulled into a low pony with a bold yet muted lip to give a pop of colour to the entire look and it was effortless.
Ahh Naomi, one of my all time favourite red carpet beauties and she never disappoints! This mermaid style beaded column Armani Privé dress was so unusual in colour that it really caught my eye and it photographed beautifully. Her hair and jewellery really complimented the look without being over done.
Isn’t Chrissy Teigen such a babe? Seriously. She’s making maternity look beautiful and sexy. I struggle to find a dress at the best of times but she dresses her bump basically and this Marchesa embroider nude and red gown was one of her best looks to date. I have to mention that braid – gorgeous!
Green has always been my favourite colour and I was so happy to see Saoirse pay homagé to her Irish roots. This Calvin Klein Collection dress was youthful, sexy and quite frankly stunning. Her beachy, textured waves and matching earrings really gave it an effortless sex appeal. Her make up was stunning too!
Margot Robbie and Tom Ford go together like Leo and his Oscar right? I gasped at this incredible gold gown when I saw Margot on the red carpet and she was pure Hollywood bombshell. Her hair was loose and effortless which let the dress do the talking.
Oh hey there ‘Belle’of the Ball! The Best Supporting Actress winner was a modern day version of the Disney princess which begs the question, why isn’t she actually playing Belle? (Sorry Emma Watson). This Louis Vuitton number was a soft yellow with beautiful scattered beading. I just wish the hem line was longer to the front and less poofy but Alicia is one of my favourites this awards season and she looked beautiful.
Last to arrive and boy was it worth waiting up until 2am to see her! Jennifer was in Dior Haute Couture *shocker* and I’ll be honest – whilst the dress looked gothic ally beautiful, the start attraction was that gorgeous hair. Honestly, I’m contemplating ditching my hair extensions and going super blonde.
Princess moment for the Best Actress winner Brie who looked every bit the lady of the moment in this beautify royal blue Gucci dress. I loved the detailing to the chest and the statement waist. Her bright pink lip really worked with the blue for a fresh look.
Ethereal Cate, she always takes risks and wears what others simply cannot. Bow down to the Oscars queen guys. This pale turquoise Armani Privé dress was absolutely stunning. I loved the cascading appliqué flowers and how she kept everything else pretty simple.
Who was your favourite?
Love, Kate xo
