In 2014, Makeup Revolution began taking the drugstore and blogging world by storm. I featured one of their Salvation palettes as well as the Blush & Contour palette in Sugar and Spice a while back and I was very impressed with the quality of the products especially considering their low price point.
I picked up the Flawless Palette in Superdrug a while back for a mere £8.00! Yup, £8.00 for 32 eyeshadows is a major bargain. The palette includes a great mix of shimmers and mattes in a wide variety of both cool and warm shades. What’s great about this palette is the variety, if you only had one palette for colours, it would be this one.
Now, I must say this palette is by no means perfect – the matte shades are a bit of a letdown when it comes to pigmentation. I think part of my reason for the disappointment is that the shimmers are extremely pigmented so the palette feels a little unbalanced. The photos don’t actually do it justice sadly because my camera hasn’t quite picked up the pigment but believe me, they be some shim-shimmery shades.
Shall we chat what’s on the rest of my face?
I began with a little Benefit The Pore-fessional Primer sample just on my nose and chin before following up with NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Santa Fe. I haven’t used that foundation in a while and it was looking neglected so I applied it with my damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge which I had kinda written off and thrown in a draw but recently rediscovered and have fallen in love with.
Brow wise, I didn’t do much because I had my brows tinted and threaded earlier in the week (‘bout damn time too) so I just filled in any gaps with Soap and Glory Archery Brow Pencil.
Eye wise, obviously I used this palette and focused on a purple shimmer (2nd row, right hand side) and then worked the chocolate brown through the crease before deepening with a red-toned brown. I added a little brow-highlight with a matte creamy shade and tied everything together with a tiny line of my favourite liner, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper. For my lashes I used my Urban Decay Perversion/Subversion Duo.
I worked my NARS Laguna Bronzer around my face with my Real Techniques Flat Contour Brush as a subtle contour before popping a bit of Tarte Amazonian Clay 12hr Blush in Embraced to add some more depth and colour to my face.
Finally for my lips, I started by giving them a bit of a plump with one of my Fullips Lip Enhancers* and added my Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Color in Passion Fruit for a pop of pink.
I am loving purple eyes and pink lips at the moment which is really not what I usually go for.
What do you think?
Love, Kate xo
