Considering I pretty much skipped the festive period all together, I thought I’d try salvage the tiny bit of festive spirt I have. So today, as it’s New Years Eve I have two posts for you both of which are lip orientated. Fancy a red but you aren’t too sure? Or maybe you’re playing it safe with a nude? I’ve got you covered…
First up, if you need some volumising assistance, Fulips are your best friend. I’ve had these little suckers for a while now and I always use them if I want a bit more of a fuller lip without the need for over lining. What you may also need is a bit of lip balm and I picked out my Lucas Paw Paw Ointment that worked wonders when I was in Australia.
THE BARELY THERE RED.
Not a bright lip kinda gal? No worries, sometimes it just takes a subtle dipping of ones toe into the bright waters. If you want to add some vibrancy without the fear of a stark bold lip then look no further than Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon (£7.99). It’s a subtle pop of colour with a pinky base so it gives a more natural look. Plus the lip butters are pretty nourishing.
THE THROW ON AND GO RED
Crayons are pretty awesome when it comes to throwing on a bit of colour and going. Enter, Rimmel Colour Rush in On Fire (£5.99). It’s got the comfort of a balm but with a great colour payoff that isn’t too out there and isn’t too subtle. What’s great about these is that they fade to a really lovely stain meaning that you don’t have to worry too much about re-applying.
THE MONEY IS NO OPTION RED.
Had to be this guy right? Yup. If you’re wanting a luxurious lip, then look no further than my man man Tom Ford in the shade Cherry Lush (£37.00) which is a vibrant, rich red with a pink tone running through it. The packaging is beyond luxe and thankfully, considering the price tag, so is the lipstick. A really comfortable, moisturising and opaque lip that will have people asking what’s on your lips! Unless your me and apply it willy nilly.
THE ANTI-RED, RED.
Red not really your bag but want to give it a whirl anyway? MAC Lady Danger (£15.50) is the perfect orange toned red that works with all skin tones. It’s matte but really comfortable and not too dry on the lips meaning that you get a heck of a lot of wear out of it without feeling like your lips have dried off.
THE BOLD RED.
Want a bright, bold red that’s really vibrant? Want a long lasting finish? Say hello to the oh so affordable Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in the shade Red Pepper (£8.99). Slick on one coat of this opaque baby and your good to go!
THE MIDNIGHT KISS PROOF RED, RED.
Now if you fancy whoring kissing it about pre and post midnight (hey, we’ve all been there!) then look no further than the immovable object that is Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Truly Red ($13.00). It’s bold, it’s matte and quite frankly you’d need a whole load of Bioderma to shift it. Perfect!
So there you have my red lip picks for your New Years Eve parties! Check back late for my nude lip edition.
What kind of lip will you be going for?
Love, Kate xo
