Carrying on from my red lips post, I bring you the nude lip edition. Sometimes a bold lip is too much of a faff or it can overpower a serious smokey eye – the only outcome is a successful application of a nude(r) lip. Now, nude lips can be a little tricky, you need to realise that not everyone suits a nude, nude y’know. For me, I have to have a hint of pink in there with my nudey goodness to keep me from looking like the crypt keeper. However, if that’s your bag, crack on…
One thing I’ve included, other than the glaringly obvious colours is a lip liner. Nude lips like Kylie Jenner need a liner, no two ways about it. I adore my Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk because it is natural and enhances my lack of a top lip with ease.
THE MATTE NUDE.
I mean, c’mon this one was easy – Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Happy Nude Year* (£8.99). If that doesn’t scream NYE, I don’t know what does. For me, this is not a nude, nude – it’s a pinky toned nude and boy is this one a jem. In the packaging, it looks like it could be a little wishy washy but luckily, it’s a beautiful matte that plumps and enhances the lips with no need to re-apply.
THE LUXE NUDE.
Holla at me CT! Yes, this quite frankly is my favourite nude lip paired with the Lip Cheat mentioned before. Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect (£23.00). Killer name with a killer finish. It’s slightly peachy toned which I find really enhances my lips and doesn’t look at all flat. Luxurious finish and packaging, everyone will be in envy of your lips.
THE TASTY CELEB NUDE.
L’Oreal has got it down when it comes to their celebrity spokeswomen themed lipsticks. I adore their Pure Red’s range and I also think their nude’s range is pretty stellar too. I have their Color Riche in Julianne’s Nude (£6.99) which is has a slightly light pink tone to it which really gives the lips a luscious finish. It’s one of the easiest lipsticks to apply and wear because it’s so fuss-free. Did I mention it smells of parma violets? Sold!
THE GLOSSY NUDE.
Are super shiny lips right down your street? Apparently, Kim Kardashian is with you on that one because apparently she used L’Oreal L’Extrodinaire in Nude Ballet (£8.99) on her wedding day to Kanye! For me, this is the truest nude of this entire post, it’s very pale and super glossy but it’s a lovely consistency.
THE YOUR LIPS BUT BETTER MORE KISSABLE NUDE.
If you want to count on a fuss-free, reliable product then you needn’t look any further than MAC Patisserie (£15.50). It’s a moisturising, slightly glossy but nicely opaque wash of colour to enhance your lips. ‘Nuff said.
THE OVER THE TOP OR ON IT’S OWN NUDE.
Are you a bit of an old school layering lover? Then Tanya Burr’s Afternoon Tea (£6.99) is just what you need. It’s perfect to layer over liner, lipstick or to add some sheen to a matte finish. It’s got a good amount of colour so it can be worn on it’s own for a swipe and go look.
There you have my run-down on the nude lips I’ll be considering tonight. That being said, I’ll probably end up doing something completely different!
I hope you all have an enjoyable and safe New Years and let’s hope 2015 is better than 2014. God knows I hope it will be for me.
What kind of nude are you going for?
Love, Kate xo
