I’m a huge fan of NARS – I would say they are one of, if not my favourite cosmetics brand. So when a pretty limited edition collection in collaboration with British fashion designer Christopher Kane was released, I snapped up two products from the range.
First things first – that packaging. The end.
This collection is described as ‘Neon Neutral‘ which I think describes it very accurately. There are wearable, natural shades with bright, neon pops of colour. Despite neon shades being a little worrisome to most, the fear does not apply to this collection at all. In fact, the bright shades are extremely wearable and don’t let the neon beauty that is Starscape Blush (£23.00) phase you because it’s completely fool proof and guess what, buildable! When it comes to cosmetics, the world buildable is a very welcomed one.
To go along side Starscape, I picked up the single eyeshadow in Outer Limits (£18.00) which is the most stunning extra pinky, rose gold shade. What I have found is that the shade is a little warmer and more peachy than it looks in the pan and that’s due to a ‘spray over’ which disappears upon use which disappointed me a little. The shadow needs to be packed on with a dense, flat brush for optimum application – a fluffy brush just won’t cut it and you’re left with a really sheer effect. I like layering this on top of any eye look for a bit of sparkle. The excess does need to be tapped off as there will be fall out. I’ll continue to work with this as the colour is so beautiful and I might have to try it wet to see if it fairs any better.
I’m completely besotted with the blush, it’s just the easiest and fool-proof bright pop of colour on the cheeks. The shade is so wearable and can be built up for intensity and I definitely think it’s a shade that would suit the most palest and darkest of skintones. I’ve been wearing it almost daily and you may have spied it in my May Favourites video too.
Have you tried this collection from NARS?
Love, Kate xo
