MAC RETRO MATTE COLLECTION LIPSTICKS

Last week I showed you the two MAC Pro Longwear Lip Liners I was kinda bamboozled into. In that post, I mentioned two lipsticks from the Retro Matte collection that I also bought. I’d been meaning to photograph what they look like on for ages, so I quickly took some snaps last night. Sadly these resulted in the most horrendous application known to man. #sorrynotsorry.

Despite the collection coming out last month, the shades are part of the permanent line – including the two I picked up.

The first one I chose was Flat Out Fabulous that my friend already had, it was decided it was a matte version of a Girl About Town which is my favourite ever MAC Lipstick. It’s described as a plum shade, I would call it more of a bright fuschia myself, with a blue undertone. It definitely looks much darker in the bullet than on the lips. The formula, whilst it is matte isn’t particularly drying and wears well. I do use a lip scrub beforehand to ensure any flakey bits are gone.

The other shade, Relentlessly Red is what I’d call a pinky toned red but MAC considers a pinkish coral. Ah we beg to differ slightly my old friend! As with the red liner, this one feels a little drier than the pink shade despite being the same formula. This is a nice, possibly more wearable, alternative to Lady Danger which is more orange toned.

I’m super impressed with these shades, they’re ridiculously pigmented and last all night, especially when partnered with the lip liners.

What do you think?

Love, Katie xo
