Y’all know I’m a sucker for a lip crayon right?Aside from the Clinique Chubby Sticks, the only other variety I’ve not purchased is the Revlon ColorBurst Balms. With the arrival of their new Matte and Lacquer versions, of course I had to correct this oversight immediately. I picked up two shades of each version, so lets start with the matte..
Firstly, I didn’t really know what to expect with these at all. I was worried they’d be Über drying and go on patchy – the full horror works. Thankfully, my apprehension was in vain – they’re absolutely beautiful and apply like a dream!
These are the smoothest, most comfortable matte products I’ve ever tried. They apply really opaque and don’t cling to dry patches either which is a massive plus (I do exfoliate often). I picked up the shades Unapologetic (a bright red toned pink – think a deeper MAC Impassioned) and Elusive (a cool toned light pink with a hint of nude) – they couldn’t be more opposite which was why I chose them. I wanted to see how they differed upon application and it’s safe to say they’re both beautiful.
They look fantastic worn alone or with a hint of shine with a gloss over the top. The wear time on these is very good, I’d say a good few hours before you’d need to re-apply. Surprisingly, despite being matte in finish, they’re quite moisturising. They actually have a nice amount of slip – y’know so you’re not feeling like you’re rubbing two pieces of sand paper together. They have a lovely, slightly minty taste that’s subtle and quite refreshing in a lip crayon.
I am so beyond impressed with these, I think I need to add a few more shades to my collection – not that my draws could handle it. There’s a great mix of shades available to suit all skin tones and seasons.
Revlon really have knocked it out of the park with these – bravo!
Have you tried these? If so, what shades?
Coming tomorrow – the Lacquers!
