Welcome Kat Von D to the UK

kat-von-d-uk

It’s crazy to think that the Kat Von D makeup brand launched back in 2008. I tried my first products in 2014 at Sephora in Sydney and now in late 2016 it’s finally here in the U.K.

Safe to say, we’ve been waiting forever guys!

So, to celebrate the launch of KVD at Debenhams not only online but now in-store – I’ve got a spotlight on all things makeup from the tattoo guru.

Kat-Von-D-Tattoo-Liner

I discussed my love for the Tattoo Liner in Trooper* last year which you can read about here. I still believe it to be one of, if not the best liquid liners ever. It’s extremely pigmented and a true black but most importantly, it is super easy to use as the pen glides across your lid with precision and ease. It’s selling point is in its name – it does not budge and lasts all day and all night for the perfect feline flick. I’ve used this for the majority of the past two years and it’s still top shelf material.

One of the best sellers is the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks* and I have the gorgeous  Lolita to share with you today! The shade is described as a chestnut rose and I think that’s a pretty accurate one. It’s unlike any of my other liquid lipsticks as it’s nude but pink and brown toned at the same time. The colour has a lot of depth and warmth which makes it really flattering on the lips. The formula is great – easy to apply, non-streaky and dries down to a comfortable matte finish. I find this lasts all day and doesn’t really need topping up. I find most liquid lipsticks need a little more application on the centre of the lips, particularly when you’re eating or drinking.

Another lip product in the range is the Studded Kiss Lipsticks* which have the most gothic and down right fabulous packaging.  These lipsticks come in 39 groundbreaking shades with even the wildest green, blue or black colours readily available. They’re not only vegan and paraben free but they also are infused with Vitamins A,C & E to provide a comfortable, velvety finish. I have the shade Magick which is a ‘sweet dusty pink’ and I think it’s the most flattering muted shade I own. Despite it being a more muted colour, I find it adds a lovely brightness to even the most barely there makeup.

The Shade + Light Palette* is probably the top seller and it’s easy to see why. If you’re looking for a contour kit that’s suitable for every and any skin tone then this is your best bet. There are 3 ‘Light‘ shades – one neutral, one yellow toned and one with a pinkier finish. I love using the yellow toned shade (Lyric) under my eyes to play down any blue tones. The ‘Shade‘ trio vary in depth with one for every skin tone and I particularly enjoy using the lightest (Sombre) to chisel out my cheekbones and define my nose.

The formula of these powders is wonderful, they’re soft and well pigmented but blend perfectly. They don’t look muddy nor can you over apply! It’s also worth mentioning that these powders work incredibly well at defining the eyes too. I love using the Shade colours to define my crease and the Light shades work well as an overall base.

Kat-Von-D-Brush
To go alongside the palette is the Shade + Light Face Brush* which is a dual-ended delight! There’s one angled side for applying contour which gives a gradient for easy application. The other side is a tapered brush which can be used for various applications. I actually enjoy it for applying highlighter.

I am so thrilled that Kat Von D is finally available in the U.K. and I have a list as long as my arm of products I’m dying to try!

What’s on your KVD wishlist?

Love, Kate xo
