If you read my Joico post last month, you’ll know I was pretty impressed with their Body Luxe range. As I bleach my hair, keeping it in as good a condition as I can is imperative. I find I’m using hair masks at least once a week to add moisture and strength back into my tresses.
That’s where my first hair balm experience has come into play – Joico Moisture Recovery Treatment Balm*. I’d always been intrigued by balms when it comes to hair but never picked anything up. Would they be too much for my fine hair? Would I turn into a mega grease ball?
First up, the balm is aimed at thick/corse dry hair – whilst my hair isn’t thick, it can feel quite corse especially if I’ve been over doing the heat.
So what’s it all about…
“An intensely hydrating treatment for coarse, dry hair.
Intense hydrating formula includes Murumuru, Olive and Shea butters to replenish lost moisture, increase strength and reduce breakage by up to 80%.
This intense 5-minute treatment, used every other shampoo, protects and dramatically rehydrates your dry, coarse or thick hair, reduces frizz, and adds fluidity, shine and movement.”
I wash my hair and squeeze out the excess water before applying. I decided to start off using just a small amount of this as I didn’t want to overload my hair incase it left a greasy residue. My hair literally absorbed it right away so I ended up applying more, concentrating on the mid to end lengths. I could tell right away it was working because my hands glided through my hair without hitting a knot once.
After around 3-5 minutes, I rinsed it out and my hair felt so smooth before I’d even dried it. Once I blasted my hair with the good ol’ hairdryer I noticed a distinctive difference in the amount of frizz and breakage when brushing. I’ve been using this around once a week for the past month or so and found it’s been making such a difference to my hair. Since I’ve just had bleach painted on my roots this morning, I think it’ll be brought out more often!
It smells incredible too, very natural but kinda fruity! Mmm.
You can purchase Joico online at Look Fantastic – they have a few gift sets that are worth a cheeky look. The 250ml size is £13.95 and a salon size 500ml is £21.95 – I think that’s quite a good price point considering how wonderful the product is.
Have you tried hair balms?
Love, Katie xo
