Hello! My name’s Angelica and I write a beauty and lifestyle blog called One Little Vice. I discovered Kate’s blog through the #MyLittleSkinCareProject that we both took part last year and I’m so happy to have the opportunity to guest post for her today.
I’m going to be sharing my picks for an autumn/winter manicure and pedicure. My best friend came to visit me last week and as we hadn’t seen each other in a while so we took the time to catch up over some beauty treatments and I road tested this routine with great results.
Whenever I do take the time to give myself a manicure or pedicure (which isn’t as often as I’d like) I really enjoy pulling out all of the stops. I try to take some time to go polish free between reapplications so that I can apply CND’s Solar Oil to help condition and strengthen my nails. I also really like to exfoliate my skin – I know it isn’t sandal season but I hate to neglect my extremities. I’m a firm believer in the benefits of exfoliating your hands – I know people don’t tend to talk about this much, but I find that it really helps to combat dry skin. I recently picked up Dr. Organic’s Organic Manuka Honey Foot Scrub and I think it does a really wonderful job on both hands and feet.
Once my skin is nice and smooth I like to moisturise, and to make the whole experience into a real treat I’ve been reaching for Antipodes’ Jubilation Ultra Nourishing Hand and Body Cream. It isn’t a super thick product but it really does a good job of hydrating dry skin leaving it gloriously soft. Before I apply nail polish I make sure that my nails are clean and dry before buffing and shaping them in readiness for the final step.
I’ve been wearing Barry M’s Gelly Polishes in Greenberry and Almond exclusively since July – I honestly haven’t strayed from these two polishes because I am obsessed with these two shades. However, with the seasons changing I thought it might be nice to have a look through my nail polish collection and try out a new nail look. It too me a while to decide but I finally settled on Ciate’s Paint Pot in Dangerous Affair and Seventeen’s Glitter Nail Effect in Gold. I like the combination of gold and deep burgundy, and it makes quite a change from the shades I’ve been wearing over the last few months!
I hope you liked my guest post, if you want to chat come and find me over on twitter – @onelittlevice – I’m always looking for fellow beauty lovers to keep up with. And let me know in the comments what the products are that you reach for when you give yourself a manicure or pedicure?
