Highlighting has become a major player in the make up game in recent years, even with the oiler skinned gals. Pretty much every make up brand has a highlighter in it’s line and recently the wonderful elf Cosmetics added a whole range to their already huge line.
I’ve been a fan of the elf Baked Blushes for quite some time, with the shade Peachy Cheeky being my personal favourite. The formulation is very glowy with a healthy boost of colour and shimmer to accentuate the face. Recently, elf added a Studio Baked Highlighter range and I’m oh-so glad they did!
There are three shades in the range and I have two featured on the blog today!
Firstly, the formula of these is really impressive, especially considering the price point (£3.95) as they are extremely pigmented and require minimal effort to apply. I find these really long lasting and really easy to wear. They aren’t overly glittery nor do they just disappear over the course of the day.
I have the shade Moonlight Pearls* which is a golden toned creamy shade and it is also the lightest of the shades. For me, this one is the one to go for if you have very pale skin that needs just a little hint of highlight.
Then I have Blush Gems* the darkest of the shades but still very wearable – it screams rose gold to me and it would definitely suit a wider range of skin tones, especially darker ones. I think it would work well as a blush in some cases as it has that rosy tinge to it.
I like to consider the shades to be very “dupe-y” meaning that they are very similar to those found in other, often more expensive brands.
The other shade in the range is called Pink Diamonds which as the name suggests, is very pink toned and looks to be the most girlish and blush like of the highlighters. I personally wouldn’t buy these highlighters to use as a blush as they’re much more pigmented and full of sheen than the baked blushes.
I apply these to the very tops of my cheek bones, through my brow bone and on my cupids bow to add a bit of radiance to my skin. I also wear the lightest shade in my inner corners for a brightening effect on my eyes.
I’m really impressed with these highlighters and they are an absolute steal at just under £4.00. For me, you really cannot go wrong with elf powder products!
What’s your favourite highlighter?
Love, Kate xo
