Introducing Clinique Pop Lacquers

I am a huge fan of the highly successful ‘Pop‘ Lipsticks from Clinique and they’ve now released their Clinique Pop Lacquers (£16)*, the super glossy, liquid counterpart. If you like opaque, high-shine colour in one swipe, then this new spring release is for you. These liquid offerings come in a variety of 10 different shades and today I’m focusing on the bold red, Lava Pop which is a bright, blue toned red that enhances the whiteness of your teeth whilst being eye-catching yet wearable.

If you like a bold red, this will be right up your street but if you prefer a lighter wash of colour then you’d be more suited to one of the more neutral shades. The lacquers are housed in a similar style packaging to the lipsticks and have a tapered doe-foot applicator which works well to hug the shape of the lips and apply the colour with ease. Speaking of the colour – it applies a bold ‘pop’ with one swipe making for an easy application. There’s no building of colour, what you see in the tube is what you get.

I immediately found the colour to apply incredibly easy with an incredible high-shine finish which is perfect for the spring/summer months where shine is imminent. I’ve been stuck on matte finishes for a while now but this has totally made me want to embrace a glossy pout. I do think I should have applied with a lip liner for a more precise finish but that’s just me being particularly picky.

The lacquer is very lightweight considering the liquid, glossy formula and isn’t sticky in the slightest. It feels comfortable on the lips despite the formula meaning there is quite a bit of movement and slip. The wear time is pretty good for such a glossy product, with up to 6 hours of shiny goodness on the lips, minus munching on your lunch.

I’m particularly keen to try ‘Wink‘ and ‘Sugar‘ which are two of the lighter, more nude shades to see how they fair but I’m really impressed with the recent offerings from Clinique.

They are currently available at House of Fraser for £16 each.

Have you tried these?

Love, Kate xo
