BOURJOIS CHRISTMAS 2014

Well aren’t Bourjois just kicking it out of the park these days?
For me, they’re one of – if not the best drugstore brand right now. Each new release brings another exciting addition to the mix and Christmas 2014 is no exception! The main theme behind the collection is being #24hrpartyready and these products truly are long lasting and will see you through the festive season with minimal effort.
The collection boasts a lovely mix of shades for the festive period and I’m obsessed with the mascara and liner already. Both haven’t left my face for at least two weeks.
First up, the Volume 1 Seconde Ultra Black Mascara* – as you’ll know I’m a huge fan of the original formula so much so that I repurchased as soon as my first tube got too dry. What I love about this mascara is that it’s an all rounded – volume, length and drama that’s buildable. It’s extremely black, as you’d hope from the “ultra black” label. I very much love a dramatic lash on a daily basis, I don’t bother with a light coating of mascara. Go hard or go home and all that jazz.  This mascara, for me, works best when it’s a few weeks old and has time to dry slightly. Anyone else prefer their mascaras a little drier?
To go along side my mascara, I have the Mega Liner* which I must say is pretty darn fabulous! This angled pen liner is extremely opaque and boy does it last! I’m getting quite good at pen liners these days so after a little practise – ‘cos y’all know that makes perfect right? – I’ve become quite the master at using this liner to create thin flicks just as well thicker, more dramatic flicks.

There’s two additions to the 24HR Eyeshadows* in Flocon d’or and Marron Givré – I think these are both absolutely stunning shades and they’re much more opaque than the original formula. These shadows are cream to powder which I’ve always found to be an odd formulation that can be hit and miss however, I’m very impressed by these, they apply evenly and blend seamlessly. Marron Givré is a colour unlike any I really have, it’s equal parts chocolate and bronze which gives it a lovely amount of depth. Whilst Flocon d’or looks to be quite white based in the pan, which I was quite skeptical about but it’s actually a lovely golden shimmer that suits Flocon d’or really well.

The Rouge Edition Velvet range has added one new shade into the mix, the gorgeous Happy Nude Year* which is a pinky toned “nude” – is a nude ever really a nude these days? That aside, I really love this colour because it’s a mid toned pink that really enhances the lips. Red Pepper* is part of the original release but it’s perfect for the festive season. These give an amazingly moisturising, long wearing matte lip with minimal effort. You can scoff a mince pie or 7 and the colour will remain in tact. A kiss under the mistletoe? No problem.

Finally we have the 1 Seconde Nail Polishes* in 3 christmas appropriate shades – Grey to Meet You, and Glitterize. These are really top notch polishes, they have the perfect sized brush for swift, precise application that’s super opaque from the get-go. Though I think you can totally get away with just one coat, I prefer to apply two coats. Both of the coloured shades are beautiful, you really can’t beat a bright red or a deep grey at this time of year. The glitter topcoat is lovely but requires another topcoat on top as it doesn’t have a smooth finish due to the glitter being quite chunky. The lasting power of these is really good too, I get around 4/5 days wear which is really good for my flimsy nails.
So there you have it, the Bourjois Christmas offerings!
What do you think?
Love, Kate xo
