A belated June Favourites

It’s safe to say I’ve been a bit M.I.A recently and I think that’s been pretty obvious for quite some time now. My posts are less frequent and my videos even more so. I guess it all boils down to work, lack of enthusiasm and that I’m really struggling every day with my self esteem and depression.
I’m not writing this to try gain attention or look for any kind of sympathy – it is what it is and I’m trying to work on me. I absolutely love blogging and filming for YouTube but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to motivate myself when all I want to do is avoid the world. Does that make sense?
I’m hoping I can find myself over the next few months and I’m hopefully getting some therapy soon which will hopefully help me sort my problems out. I’m not going to sit here and cry ‘why always me’ because that’s just not needed – I know there are worse situations to be in and sometimes I wish I could just ‘suck it up’ and be a fighter.
Usually, I do my monthly favourites in video format but I’m not feeling up to the challenge of trying to film without hating the footage so I’m going old school and putting pen to paper keys to keyboard and attempting a blog post instead. I hope you understand and will enjoy reading my favourites regardless. Anyway, enough waffling from me…onto the products I’ve been enjoying, particularly in June.
Make up wise, I could go on for about 15 posts about the new stuff I’ve been trying but there’s two powder products that are definitely stand outs. To say I have been reaching for my Physician’s Formula Bronze Booster in Light/Medium ($14.95) every day would be an understatement. Being a die hard NARS Laguna gal, you’d be surprised to learn that it’s been shunned in favour of this US drugstore bronzer. I love how blendable and buildable the colour is plus it’s totally non-orange or streaky at all. It adds a lovely warmth to my skin that I’ve been loving!
Contour doesn’t have to be OTT and you can do it subtly every day – that’s where the Maybelline Master Sculpt in Medium/Dark (£6.99) comes into play. I adore this for a cool toned definition on my cheekbones and down my nose. The highlighter is a soft, subtle finish and whilst it’s not my current go-to highlight, it’s still very wearable for every day. It’s a fantastically compact contour kit that’s extremely affordable but I would say the medium/dark isn’t actually that dark so I’m hoping they bring out another shade for darker skin tones soon.
My final make up related item is the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (£5.99) which I go through phases with and right now I am absolutely loving it for applying my base. I dampen it with warm water and begin patting my foundation into my face and I’ve noticed it gives me a much fuller but more flawless finish in such a little amount of time. I’m contemplating upgrading to the Beauty Blender as this is coming to the end of it’s shelf life – what do you think, should I go for it?

I often write about my love for Superfacialist by Una Brennan, which is exclusive to Boots, because I cannot believe such a brilliant brand is so affordable! I’ve tried quite a few of their products but this Neroli Firming Intense Facial Serum* (£16.99) is my absolute favourite. I adore the feeling this gives as it effortlessly glides and sinks into my skin, leaving a baby soft finish right away. I’ve received quite a few comments on how clear and bright my skin is recently and I genuinely believe it’s down to this product. It seems to be healthy, radiant skin in a tube! Did I mention it smells incredible?
Jo Malone is a brand I’ve been eyeing up for what seems like forever but when I was in Duty Free last month, I finally picked up a scent and I’m so pleased. After much debate, I came away with Peony & Blush Suede 30ml (£42.00) because I was looking for a floral summer scent and this one is absolutely stunning. What I love about it is that it isn’t overly sweet and has a deep, sensuous undertone too.

It’s safe to say L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil 500ml (£18.00 for 250ml) has been on my wish list for a long time.  When I was in New York, I managed to find it in a huge 500ml for $50.00 which included the Almond Milk Concentrate too. The offer was indeed too good to refuse and I am so pleased I picked it up. The oil is lovely because it is extremely nourishing and feels incredibly luxe. It foams nicely when washing and works well when I’m shaving my legs to leave them soft, hydrated and silky smooth.
Finally, a brand that I feature quite heavily and I think has been in most of my monthly favourites. La Roche-Posay Make-Up Remover Micellar Water Gel* (£12.00) is a new product to the brand and continues in the same micellar vein as other brands but with a twist! You apply this to a damp face and work it into the skin and it breaks down make up with ease. I really like this because it’s very cooling on sensitive skin and it doesn’t sting your eyes in anyway either. It keeps it gel consistency but removes make up quickly and leaves the skin feeling soft and supple.
What did you love in June?
Love, Kate xo
